Collective Worship

At Chelford CE Primary School, pupils come together on a daily basis to celebrate collective worship. This plays a key part in helping to build pupils' spiritual development, regardless of their own religious beliefs or views.

As a Church school, we use Bible stories along with stories and celebrations of different faiths, current affairs and world events to help to instil the values we hold dear and develop pupils' personal, social and emotional skills.

Our collective worship schedule is outlined below:

  • Monday: Introduction of the BIG Question and exploration of a specific theme: Mr Brady
  • Tuesday: Song / hymn celebration: Mrs Thwaites / Mr Scarterfield
  • Wednesday: Bible study: Mrs Jones
  • Thursday: Class worship - children bring their ideas to the BIG question posed in Monday's session
  • Friday: Celebration - Praise Awards

The BIG Question (Mondays and Thursdays)

Each Monday, Mr Brady will share a theme or resource with children. This may be a motivational video, Bible story, personal experience, story of an inspiring individual or recent news event. At the end of the worship, a BIG Question - relating to the worship - will be posed for children to contemplate.

Each Thursday, following opportunities for reflection, children will come together in their classes to discuss Monday's BIG Question and offer their own ideas and thoughts. Working in classes ensures that children and teachers can lead a more age-appropriate response to the prompt, thus enabling children to gain more from their shared thoughts and opinions.

The themes to be explored this half term through the BIG Question are identified below:
