• Friday 15 November 2024 Children in Need 2024 Chelford CE Primary School was awash with yellow and all manner of spotty clothing today in support of the annual BBC Children in Need fundraiser.
• Wednesday 13 November 2024 We Remember On Sunday 10th November, members of the School Council joined Mr Brady in representing the school at the Remembrance Service. In a poignant service, we gathered to remember all those that have aid the ultimate sacrifice in enabling us to enjoy the freedoms we are afforded today. It was also lovely to see pupils past and present representing scouts, guides and brownies.
• Friday 8 November 2024 Diwali Week Classes 2 and 3 were extremely lucky to receive a visit from Mrs Vaja (Gautam and Rohini’s mother) on Wednesday as part of our Diwali week. During the session, the children learned about why Diwali is celebrated, the importance of Diwali and the types of things different families do to celebrate.
• Friday 8 November 2024 Class 3 - ceramics project update Hilly Kerr returned to school to help Class 3 pupils to complete the next step in their Saxon-inspired jewellery project. Regular readers will recall that pupils had previously sketched out and constructed their designs with clay. We were relieved that all pieces survived the initial firing in the kiln - which turned the clay from a soft, malleable brown into a rigid, white piece. On Wednesday, children applied their glazes. The next stage of the process is for the pieces to be fired once again before they are threaded and ready to wear. We can’t wait to see the finished jewellery pieces. As always, our heartfelt gratitude goes to Hilly for inspiring our pupils’ love of ceramics and providing such an enjoyable learning experience.
• Friday 8 November 2024 Football update 9.11.24 Our Y5/6 football team took part in a ‘B’ team football festival this week. As always, pupils embodied the school values of aspiration, resilience and kindness in all matches and it was great to welcome some new competitors into the team for their first matches. Well done to all involved, and to tournament winners Brereton CE Primary School on being crowned champions! We also thank Mrs Downer and Mrs Jones who were on hand to lend their guidance and support.
• Thursday 24 October 2024 Eco Club update Eco Club rounded off the half-term by sampling squash soup made from squashes grown in our raised bed. It seemed to go down well and not a drop was left by the end of the session. Our thanks to Mrs Wilson for supervising operations at the hob! Eco Club will return after the February half term break. As always, we extend our thanks to Mr Norman and Mrs Wilson for kindly leading the club this term.
• Thursday 24 October 2024 PTA Disco Fun! Pupils enjoyed a fantastic disco on Wednesday afternoon - cutting some impressive shapes on the dancefloor! As always, it is a great joy to see so many pupils having such fun and we extend a huge thank you to our wonderful PTA committee of putting on the event and to parents who were able to lend a hand. We also express our thanks to staff who gave their time to support the event.
• Friday 18 October 2024 Tag Rugby update Y5/6 pupils did Chelford CE Primary School proud on Wednesday when competing in our first tag rugby competition since the covid lockdown in 2019. The torrential rain couldn’t dampen pupils’ spirits - they played with excellent teamwork and with smiles on their faces! Well done to Luca, Theo and Jack for scoring a number of tries during the competition. As always, we pass on our thanks to Andy Aspinall from Thrive for coordinating the event, HCCS for allowing use of the facilities and our families for coming out in force again to lend their support. We also extend our congratulations to Goostrey Primary School, who were deserved winners on the day! Our next sports event is a football competition for Y5/Y6 pupils on Wednesday 6th November.
• Friday 18 October 2024 School of Rock There was great excitement in Class 3 on Tuesday as pupils started to get to grips with a range of rock band instruments, supporting the unit ‘Music from Manchester and Beyond’. Pupils were given the opportunity to try a range of different instruments including bass, electric guitar, keyboards and drums in readiness for the formation of Chelford CE Primary School’s first ever rock band! We are looking forward to seeing how the group develops over the coming months. Mr Scarterfield will shortly be contacting parents on an invitational basis for their child to be part of the band.
• Wednesday 9 October 2024 Eco Club - Litter picking This week, Mrs Jones joined Mr Norman and Mrs Wilson's Eco Club for a litter pick around Mere Court. The team took the opportunity to learn about the important of protecting our local environment and the habitats that are home to so many varied wildlife. Pupils did a fantastic job in clearing away the litter - showing their commitment to their local community in the process!
• Wednesday 9 October 2024 Tatton Park - Anglo Saxons & Vikings Class 3 pupils enjoyed an inspiring day at Tatton Park as Anglo Saxon villagers, learning all about daily life in Britain after the invasion of Angles, Jutes and Saxons whilst keeping a watchful eye out for the threat of the Vikings! Children enjoyed a number of workshops - gathering, threshing and grinding wheat (to be used for bread); learning all about weapons and armoury; mastering the art of weaving and learning about the many uses of deer skin and antlers.
• Sunday 6 October 2024 Y3/4 Try Something New Mr Brady took Henry, Jack, and Nyla to Brereton CE Primary School to try their hand at a range of new sports including new age kurling, fencing and archery. The children enjoyed participating in the activities and meeting some new friends from our partner schools. As always, our thanks to Andy and Matt at Thrive, coaches from Sports Coaching Group and staff at Bremerton for supporting the event.
• Sunday 6 October 2024 British Sign Language Workshop We were delighted to welcome Bee and Jonty to spend the afternoon with Class 3 pupils on Thursday, developing their knowledge and understanding of British Sign Language. As part of the training, children developed an awareness of how sign language is used by a number of people to overcome communication barriers and the importance of learning some basic gestures to be able to converse with those who may rely on signing as their primary means of communication. During the session, children learnt some basic greetings, the alphabet, foods, family and colours. Our thanks to Bee and Jonty for arranging the training for pupils which was thoroughly enjoyed by all!
• Wednesday 2 October 2024 Football update Y5/6 It was the turn of our Y5/6 pupils to represent the school in our sports partnership football tournament. As always, pupils impressed with their endeavour and it was great to see so many smiley faces on show! Well done to our friends at Hermitage Primary School for finishing the tournament as champions!
• Monday 30 September 2024 Football update Y3/4 Y3/4 children braved a torrential downpour on Wednesday afternoon when they participated in a football competition held at Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School. It was fabulous to see pupils playing together and supporting one another - it was the first time that some of our children had been involved in a competitive football match and we were delighted with the resilience and teamwork on show! Well done to all who took part for representing the school so positively!
• Monday 30 September 2024 Join the Fantasy Football Fun! Mr Brady has set up a Chelford CE Primary School Fantasy Premier League for those pupils (and parents!) who enjoy playing along with the popular game. To date, we have 18 teams in the league and welcome any other FPL players to join via the code: qlck0a
• Sunday 29 September 2024 Harvest collections Many thanks to all our families for their donations to our Harvest collection. Mr Brady will be taking all items to the Silkllife Food Bank in Macclesfield next week.

• Monday 23 September 2024 Harvest Service Our school community came together for an enjoyable Harvest Service at All Saints Church in Marthall. Pupils share poems, songs and artwork to celebrate the Harvest and Mr Brady introduced this week's BIG Question: 'Why is it important to support local foodbanks?'
• Friday 13 September 2024 Collective Worship - the Big Question As we start a new term, we have revamped our collective worship arrangements to include the 'BIG Question'. Each Monday, Mr Brady will introduce the BIG Question for the week. Pupils will be asked to consider and explore some ideas to then share with their classmates during a class-based collective worship on Thursdays. This enables teachers to lead conversations and discussions that are age-appropriate with children, as they develop and explore their thoughts to the prompt.
• Friday 13 September 2024 Fire Service Visit We were delighted to welcome Cheshire Fire and Rescue service into school this week to lead an informative session with Class 3 pupils on fire safety. Some of the headline messages include ensuring that homes have smoke detectors installed and are checked regularly; devising and sharing an escape plan so that all family members know what to do in the event of a fire and increasing vigilance and awareness around potential fire risks - such as candles, plug sockets and stoves. Pupils enjoyed the opportunity to visit the ‘smoke’ tent to gain an insight into how difficult it would be to orient themselves with limited visibility and were keen to learn all about the different features of a fire engine. We thank our colleagues from the Cheshire Fire and Rescue service for their support.
• Thursday 12 September 2024 Cross Country A huge congratulations to all pupils who participated in this week’s cross country meet - the first of our competitive sport events as part of our new partnership with friends from local schools. We would like to express our thanks to Andy Aspinall from Thrive for arranging the opportunity and to the team at Goostrey Primary School for hosting the event at short notice. As always, thanks to pour families and parents for supporting pupils with transport and encouragement.

• Friday 19 July 2024 See You Soon.... Y6 leavers We say goodbye to our talented Year 6 pupils as their time at Chelford CE Primary School comes to an end today. Pupils and their families joined together on Wednesday for a special Leavers’ Service celebration assembly which provided a poignant opportunity to reflect upon their primary school experiences and to look forward, with excitement, on what lies ahead at high school and beyond.

• Friday 19 July 2024 Netball update Congratulations to our netball team who participated in a thrilling match with our friends from Nether Alderley on Wednesday. In a competitive game, Ellie struck first to give us the lead before a Nether Alderley fightback led our visitors to a 6-3 victory. Rose and Olivia were our other scorers. The team performed incredibly well and it was a joy to see their teamwork on show once again; coaches Mrs Roberts and Mrs Pakenham Walsh were incredibly proud of the children. Well done!
• Saturday 13 July 2024 PTA Summer Family Fun Afternoon Huge thanks to all who supported our Family Fun Day, especially the PTA Committee for putting together the event, Connecting Chelford for providing lovely scones and cream, Y6 pupils for running stalls and independent stall holders for lending their time and supporting the event.
• Saturday 13 July 2024 Cinderella and Rockerfella Class 3 pupils produced two magnificent performances of this year’s KS2 Production Cinderella and Rockerfella. The cast sang, danced and performed their hearts out to appreciative audiences!
• Saturday 13 July 2024 Class 2 Residential Pupils are staff enjoyed a fantastic two days at Burwardsley this week. The residential visit provided the opportunity to develop teamwork and collaboration skills and it was great to see pupils working so well together. For many, this was the first night away from home with friends and they managed the overnight stay extremely well! During the stay, children enjoyed taking a long walk through he forest to the top of the hill where they enjoyed learning how to make dens with branches, twigs and bracken. Upon their return to the centre and following a hearty meal, the children gathered around the campfire to toast marshmallows which they placed between chocolate digestives to make ‘smores’ - delicious.
