Health and Wellbeing
At Chelford CE Primary School, we believe that the health and wellbeing of our pupils are fundamental to their overall development and academic success. Our holistic approach ensures that every child feels supported, safe, and valued, enabling them to thrive both inside and outside the classroom.
Physical Health
Physical health is a cornerstone of our wellbeing strategy. We promote active lifestyles through a comprehensive physical education (PE) curriculum that includes a variety of sports and physical activities. Our spacious grounds and well-equipped facilities provide the perfect environment for children to engage in physical exercise, fostering not only fitness but also teamwork and discipline.
In addition to regular PE classes, we encourage participation in extracurricular sports clubs, which cater to a range of interests and abilities. From football and netball to yoga and dance, there is something for everyone! These activities not only improve physical health but also enhance social skills and self-esteem.
Mental and Emotional Wellbeing
Mental and emotional wellbeing is equally important at Chelford CE Primary School. We are committed to creating a nurturing environment where children feel confident and happy. Our staff are trained to recognise and support the mental health needs of students, providing a compassionate and understanding approach to any issues that may arise.
Mrs Downer leads our mental health and wellbeing work, and supports children through her ELSA (Emotional Learning Support Assistant) role.
Healthy Eating
Nutrition plays a vital role in maintaining health and wellbeing. Our school promotes healthy eating habits through a balanced school meal programme that offers nutritious and delicious options. We educate our students about the importance of a healthy diet and how it can positively impact their energy levels, concentration, and overall health.
We also encourage children to bring healthy snacks and packed lunches, and we provide parents with resources on how to support their child’s nutritional needs at home.
Creating a Safe and Inclusive Environment
Safety and inclusion are at the heart of our school community. We strive to create a safe, inclusive environment where every child feels respected and valued. Our anti-bullying policies and inclusive practices ensure that all students, regardless of background or ability, have the opportunity to succeed and feel part of the school family.
Parental and Community Involvement
We believe that the support and involvement of parents and the community are crucial to the health and wellbeing of our students. We maintain open lines of communication with parents and offer numerous opportunities for them to engage with the school.
At Chelford CE Primary School, we are dedicated to fostering a culture of health and wellbeing that supports our students in becoming happy, healthy, and successful individuals.
