Welcome to Chelford CE Primary School, where our dedicated and passionate staff work together to provide a nurturing and inspiring environment for every child. Our team is committed to fostering a love of learning, personal growth, and the development of each child's unique talents.
At the heart of our school is our Headteacher, Mr Andy Brady, whose leadership and vision ensure that Chelford continues to thrive as a caring and inclusive community. With over 20 years of experience in education, Mr Brady is passionate about creating a positive and supportive atmosphere where both students and staff can excel.
Supporting Mr Brady is our team of highly-skilled and inspirational teachers and teaching assistants. Our class teachers bring a wealth of experience and creativity to the classroom. From Early Years through to Year 6, they work tirelessly to create engaging and challenging lessons that cater to the diverse needs of our students. Each teacher is supported by a team of Teaching Assistants who provide invaluable help in delivering high-quality education and individual attention to our students.
In addition to our teaching staff, we have a fantastic team of support staff, including our Bursar, Mrs Michelle Latchford who ensures the smooth running of our school administration, and our Site Manager, Mr. Dave Moore, who keeps our school environment safe and welcoming. Our midday team also work hard in ensuring pupils have access to healthy meals and enjoy a range of engaging activities to play at lunch times.
Together, the staff at Chelford CE Primary School are dedicated to creating a learning environment where every child feels valued, supported, and encouraged to reach their full potential. We look forward to working with you and your child on their educational journey.

Mrs Helen AinsworthTeaching Assistant
Mrs Helen Ainsworth
Helen joined Chelford in 2021 having worked as a dyslexia tutor and primary school teacher.She supports staff and pupils across the age ranges loving to learn new skills and from each other. She finds it particularly rewarding helping children master something they have found tricky seeing their self-belief and confidence grow.She has a keen interest in science and fitness and runs the ‘Dance it out’ club.In her spare time she loves to dance, read, draw, create new crafts, learn new things and visit new places. -
Miss Victoria AspinallTeaching Assistant
Miss Victoria Aspinall
Victoria joined the team as teaching assistant at Chelford in 2020, having previously worked at a school in Manchester. Prior to this, Victoria completed her Early Years and Childhood Studies degree. In her spare time, Victoria enjoys travelling the world, country walks and socialising with friends and family. Victoria is known amongst the team for her excellent quiz-knowledge and enjoys taking part in our staff quizzes!

Mrs Abby BakerClass 1 Teacher
Mrs Abby Baker
Abby is Chelford's longest serving teacher, having joined the team in 2012, following her graduation from Edge Hill University. As Class 1 teacher, Abby leads our Early Years and phonics provision and enjoys welcoming new pupils to begin their 'big school' journey each September. Abby also leads art and design across the school and has played a key role in developing our art and design curriculum over recent years.
Outside of school, Abby enjoys spending time with her son and family and also has a passion for animals. She enjoys walking her dogs and being outdoors.

Mrs Helen BoothCatering Supervisor
Mrs Helen Booth
Our much-loved school chef, Helen Booth, joined Chelford CE Primary School in 2009. Having previously worked as a kitchen assistant at Macclesfield Academy, Helen now leads our catering provision, providing delicious and nutritious lunches for pupils, staff and children from the on-site Chelford Village Pre School.
Outside of school, Helen enjoys spending time with family and friends. She also possesses a passion for needlework and crochet, enjoying time completing a range of different projects within the home comforts of her sewing room. Visitors to School may notice Chelford Bear in the entrance area - one of Helen's stunning handmade teddy bears - made entirely from old uniform items!

Mr Andy Brady
Andy was appointed Headteacher in 2019, having spent 18 years as a class teacher at Tarvin Primary School and Nether Alderley Primary School, where he served as Deputy Headteacher for 9 years.
Andy possesses a passion for curriculum design and embracing technology as a tool for learning.
Outside of school, he enjoys spending time with his family and attending matches at the Etihad Stadium to watch Manchester City. Andy also enjoys listening to podcasts and audiobooks and playing the guitar.

Mrs Jen DownerTeaching Assistant
Mrs Jen Downer
Jen joined Chelford CE Primary School in 2018. She completed a Level 4 certificate for Higher Level Teaching Assistant in 2022 and trained to be an Emotional Learning Support Assistant in 2023. As a result, Jen leads the ELSA provision at Chelford CE Primary School and was appointed as Mental Health and Wellbeing lead in September 2023.
Jen’s role within the school is to support the learning and development, both academically and personally, of all the children in the school. She works closely with the class teachers to enable all pupils achieve their full potential and enjoy their time in school. Jen contributes to our extra-curricular provision, regularly running ‘Chill ’n’ Chat’ lunchtime sessions and supporting netball and craft clubs. Jen also manages our ‘New 2 U’ second hand uniform service; donations and requests can be directed to her via email.
Outside of school, Jen has a very busy family life with 3 children. She enjoys travelling, watching films, and being active in 'the great outdoors'.

Mrs Gemma JacksonTeaching Assistant
Mrs Gemma Jackson
Gemma joined Chelford Primary School in 2021 as Teaching Assistant, having led Chelford Pre-School for a number of years. Prior to taking on the role within the village pre-school, Gemma worked as a teaching assistant, both at Nether Alderley Primary School and Terra Nova School, supporting children in whole class and 1:1 contexts. Having grown up in the locality, Gemma's links with the school go back to her childhood; she attended Chelford CE Primary School as a pupil when the school was located on the previous site off Alderley Road.Gemma possesses a passion for early education and works alongside Mrs Baker in delivering continued improvement within our Early Years setting. She is also a keen artist and possesses a love of photography; many of the wonderful images found around the school (and this website!) will have been captured by Gemma!Outside of school, Gemma enjoys spending time with her family, walking the dogs and running her own photography studio. -
Mrs Victoria JonesClass 2 Teacher
Mrs Victoria Jones
Victoria joined Chelford in 2018, following the construction of a new classroom to accommodate the new housing developments in the village. As SENCO, Victoria coordinates learning provision for pupils with additional needs, supporting them and their families and liaising with a range of multi-agency professionals to ensure that all children are given the opportunity to shine. In addition, Victoria is also our RE leader and takes responsibility for curriculum design and leading the school through the SIAMS inspection process.
Outside of school, Vicky likes to keep active; she enjoys going to the gym and bouldering. She also enjoys travelling, skiing and spending time with her family and her two cats.

Mrs Michelle LatchfordBursar
Mrs Michelle Latchford
Michelle is passionate about education, particularly the Early Years. Michelle was appointed as Bursar in 2021 and offers a friendly welcome to all parents, children and visitors to our school. Prior to joining the team at Chelford, for 20 years Michelle enjoyed a rewarding career in the Early Years Sector. Michelle was previously nursery manager for a number of private day nurseries, which she led with drive and dedication. A number of the nurseries Michelle led were graded outstanding by Ofsted. Michelle has a broad appreciation for the policies and systems in education having also undertaken a quality assurance role in education for the last 10 years. This knowledge helps her in her daily duties as Bursar at Chelford. Michelle has achieved her Early Years Teacher Status and also completed a Masters degree in Early Years and Primary Education. Alongside these education qualifications, Michelle has completed a business and economics degree, a compilation of academic qualifications which are well suited to working in the office at Chelford.
Michelle is a busy mum to three girls, all of whom have attended Chelford. In her spare time, Michelle enjoys long distance running and the challenge of completing marathons. Michelle also enjoys swimming and is a qualified swimming teacher for Swim England.

Mr David Moore
Dave joined Chelford CE Primary School in 2020, following a career in aviation. Dave's role encompasses a plethora of responsibilities that help ensure the school is kept neat, tidy and safe for all our stakeholders. A friendly, personable member of the team, Dave is always available to lend a helping hand and is much-loved and valued by our staff and pupils!

Mrs Zoe Mort
Zoe has been part of the team at Chelford for many years; in that time, her three children have each passed through the school. In addition to helping to organise school lunches each day, Zoe also lends a helping hand in the kitchen when required. In her spare time, she enjoys visiting Old Trafford to watch her beloved Manchester United and spending time with her family.

Mrs Amanda MurphyFrench Teacher
Mrs Amanda Murphy
Amanda has taught French at Chelford since 2014. She also teaches at Parkroyal Community School in Macclesfield and used to teach modern languages in secondary schools. Amanda has been a languages teacher since 2004 and is passionate about developing little linguists.
Amanda has two boys and enjoys walking, swimming and cooking. Amanda is also loving learning British Sign Language.

Mr Mark NormanTeaching Assistant
Mr Mark Norman
Mark is a popular and much-loved member of the team who joined Chelford as a teaching assistant in 2020, following a successful career as a primary school teacher. Mark works three days each week, covering teachers' non-contact time, supporting learning across all classes. He is passionate about environmental issues and passes on his enthusiasm to our pupils via our Eco Club, which he leads each week. Mark also possesses a great love of nature; he enjoys camping, gardening and exploring the great outdoors. He helps to organise our annual Great Chelford Bird Watch which pupils enjoy tremendously.

Mrs Ruth NuttallTeaching Assistant
Mrs Ruth Nuttall
Ruth loves being part of our team and beings her vivacious sense of fun to Chelford CE Primary School. A qualified teacher, Ruth initially joined the staff team as a supply teacher, covering lessons in the absence of teachers, before jumping at the opportunity to join the team in a more permanent capacity as a teaching assistant. An experienced private tutor, Ruth also heads up our catch-up tuition, supporting a children to reach their potential.
Ruth possesses a passion for music and enjoys leading singing activities with pupils.
In her free time, she likes to get out on the open road on her motorbike and enjoys performing as part of a choir and at open-mic nights. Ruth also loves to spend time with her grandson and enjoys being around her loving family.

Mrs Liz RobertsClass 3 Teacher
Mrs Liz Roberts
Liz was appointed as Class 3 Teacher in September 2023, having spent 12 years as a class teacher at Grange Farm Primary School, where she taught in KS2 and was maths and PE lead.
Liz is particularly passionate about maths but also thoroughly enjoys teaching English and history.
Outside of school, she enjoys spending time with her family, long dog walks, playing netball and reading.

Mr Matt ScarterfieldMusic Teacher
Mr Matt Scarterfield
Matt is our talented music teacher who teaches who delivers our inspiring and ambitious music curriculum. He is passionate that all children are given the opportunity to develop their music talents through the use of instruments and has worked hard to develop this as part of our our curriculum offer; children are given the opportunity to explore a wide range of different instruments, such as samba percussion, recorder, ukulele and brass amongst others. Matt is also keen to ensure that children are given access to positive and memorable musical experiences - such as the Come and Play with the Hallé concert at the Bridgewater Hall.
In addition to his class teaching responsibiities, Matt also offers private peripatetic brass lessons for pupils and it is always a delight to hear how well our pupils are progressing!
In his spare time, Matt enjoys playing trumpet, piano and guitar (amongst other instruments!) and attending concerts, as well as socialising with his friends and family.

Miss Helen SherwoodMidday Assistant
Miss Helen Sherwood
Helen started as a Midday Assistant at Chelford in 2021 and thoroughly enjoys supporting children.Helen also runs the after-school Drama Club and has over 18 years’ experience as a Drama Teacher, including being Head of Drama whilst working in Mexico for 2 years. Prior to teaching, Helen was a professional actor, having trained at LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art), and appeared in theatre productions – and as Nurse Duxfield in Coronation Street!Helen now runs her own tutoring company and tutors children in Acting, Drama, and in LAMDA Exams.Outside of school she enjoys travelling and has been to East Africa, Guatemala, Thailand, Borneo and the Greek Islands. She also enjoys visiting the theatre and cinema, going for walks, spending time with her family and playing board games with her nephews. -
Mrs Heather ThwaitesClass 3 Teacher
Mrs Heather Thwaites
Heather joined the school in 2021 as one of the Class 3 teachers. Previously, she taught at Woodcocks’ Well for 8 years where she taught mixed aged classes of year 2 and 3, year 4 and 5 and year 5 and 6. She was also the school SENCO.
At Chelford, Heather leads English and Computing. She really enjoys teaching English, history, geography and encouraging all children to fully immerse themselves in the wonderful world of reading.
Heather also leads the school choir which is a real passion of hers. She enjoys seeing the children find joy in singing and music.
Outside of school, Heather loves spending time with her family and reading as many books as possible!
