Friday 21 March 2025 Music Mark Award As families will be aware, one of our aspirations over recent years has been to develop aspects of our music provision through the curriculum, extra-curricular and use of peripatetic tutors. Since the appointment of Mr Scarterfield in 2023, the curriculum has undergone a significant development which has enhanced our offer to pupils. This, alongside the wonderful work already in place through Miss Cocks’ piano tuition and our Love Music Trust collaborations has led to us achieving the Music Mark recognition. Music Mark is awarded to schools to recognise their commitment to providing high-quality music education offering benefits like access to resources, training, and networking opportunities.

Friday 8 November 2024 Class 3 - ceramics project update Hilly Kerr returned to school to help Class 3 pupils to complete the next step in their Saxon-inspired jewellery project. Regular readers will recall that pupils had previously sketched out and constructed their designs with clay. We were relieved that all pieces survived the initial firing in the kiln - which turned the clay from a soft, malleable brown into a rigid, white piece. On Wednesday, children applied their glazes. The next stage of the process is for the pieces to be fired once again before they are threaded and ready to wear. We can’t wait to see the finished jewellery pieces. As always, our heartfelt gratitude goes to Hilly for inspiring our pupils’ love of ceramics and providing such an enjoyable learning experience.
